DATA4PT project wraps-up at IT-TRANS

On 15 May, the DATA4PT project drew to a close at the IT-TRANS Conference in Karlsruhe.

After more than 4 years, partners, experts, EU Member States and other stakeholders got together to discuss project results, hear success stories and look into the future of the DATA4PT legacy. We heard from the implementing bodies how the project has supported them with the implementation of EU standards for a more smooth, seamless mobility system.

The event was opened by UITP Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani, who emphasised how the digital transformation that is reshaping our sector will only succeed if we meet passengers’ expectations. ‘We need appropriate digital tools to empower people to organise their mobility without the need to own a car… Data is an indispensable ally to this.’

Secretary General of ITxPT Anders Selling focused on how interoperability of data is vital for a multimodal mobility system and seamless mobility. ‘It’s all about customer satisfaction and passengers experience. And passengers need trustworthy information.’

Our final keynote speaker Petra Söderqvist, Policy Officer at the European Commission highlighted how the 4 pillars of DATA4PT (knowledge, support, exchange and long-term sustainability) were key for the success of the project. ‘On an average working day, 185 million people are travelling with urban and suburban public transport services in the EU. It’s important that the right public transport data is available to them.’

Of course it doesn’t stop here. In the coming weeks and months we’ll share many project results, lessons learned and success stories, so keep an eye on our channels!
